Teutopolis village board members have approved the annexation of a 50+ acre tract of land into the Effingham/Effingham County Enterprise Zone.

The annexation was earlier approved by the Effingham City Council and Effingham County Board. The parcel is located northwest of Effingham and involves undeveloped parts of Prairie Ace Estates, a residential subdivision next to Effingham Country Club.

The Teutopolis board also approved the purchase of an easement from the Springfield Catholic Diocese along Main Street for a sidewalk project, approved a 12-month extension of the transfer of a lot in Prairie View Subdivision; approved the transfer of $300,000 from TIF District II to the village's general fund to reimburse the village for expenditures for infrastructure work at Prairie View Subdivision, and discussed a survey of an easement for Northern Row. The Board is considering vacating the portion of Northern Row from Wall to Washington Streets.

The Board heard from engineer Lee Beckman about a meeting on Wednesday at 7pm to discuss sidewalk agreements. Grant funds will be used for the sidewalk improvements. Also, plans are being made to place signs at the village's four welcome signs stating that no solicitation will be allowed in the village without a permit.
