North Clay school district may soon be the scene of construction and renovation work; as Superintendent Keith Price put it, "a once-in-a-generation project."

One goal of the project will be to connect all of the district buildings at the Louisville complex. Price said one chief benefit would be to improve security.

The project will include a new gymnasium and new vocational education space for the district's Ag program. There will be new restrooms located throughout the high school building along with replacement of a stairwell. There will also be a new, more secure entryway for the high school. Another feature will be to convert the circle drive in front of the high school for use as parking.

The North Clay board also set end of year dates. High school baccalaureate and graduation will take place on Sunday, May 19, baccalaureate at 2pm, graduation at 3pm. 8th grade promotion will take place on Tuesday, May 21 at 6:30pm. The Board also agreed that Lunar Eclipse Day on April 8 will be a day of no student attendance. Other changes include a full day of student attendance on March 27 rather than a half-day, March 28 will be a 12:30pm dismissal day, and May 30 will be an emergency day replacing the one that had been scheduled for March 28.

Board members discussed curriculum changes for the coming school year, but took no action. Also, fuel bids were awarded; the Board approved amending the school maintenance project grant; the Board approved a Robotics program; and a presentation was heard from Clint Holkenbrink of Wabash Communications COOP on potential eSports teams for North Clay. The Board also agreed to seek mowing bids.

The North Clay board hired Deselene Hull as a fulltime cook for the rest of the school year; hired Laith Harrington as a part-time custodian for the balance of this school year; hired Adam Cox as assistant high school boys baseball coach for this season; accepted the resignation of Kim Harrison as volunteer junior high track and field coach and then hired Harrison as high school head track and field coach for this season; agreed to post an anticipated additional speech pathologist position for the coming school year; accepted the letter of resignation of high school teacher Paige Reese; hired Kimberly Holstrum as a long term sub for high school English for this school year; accepted the letter of resignation of Morgan Bailey as girls 7th grade basketball coach; accepted the letter of resignation of Callaway Campton as PE teacher and high school boys fresh/soph basketball coach; and granted the administration permission to fill open positions.
