County Board Acts on Financial Matters Tuesday

Effingham County board members approved several financial disbursements at Tuesday's meeting.

The Board:

--approved $247,800 in earmarked ARPA funds to Global Technical Systems for fire department radios

--approved $11,370.29 in earmarked ARPA funds to Effingham County Highway Department for TREC Trail maintenance

--approved releasing remaining $8,953 in earmarked funding for Effingham County Farm Bureau back into ARPA funds

--approved reallocation of $40,359.01 in earmarked ARPA funds from the Childcare Research Increased Capacity Program to assist CEFS in the buildout of an outdoor playground

--approved earmarking $3,000 in ARPA funds for county board member tablets

--approved $5,000 in hotel/motel tax dollars to the Effingham County Fair

--approved a resolution regarding Personal Property Tax Replacement distribution

The Board also approved a final plat of the fourth addition to Stoneridge Subdivision and a final plat of Obert/Rentfrow Subdivision, then also approved changes to the makeup of the Effingham County Housing Authority including reducing the membership to five and accepting the resignation of Billy Genaust. 

Board members approved the Watson Township and Road and Bridge District Joint Decennial Committee report, and also approved a Dive Rescue Assessment agreement with the approval of State's Attorney Aaron Jones and City Attorney Tracy Willenborg. The City is yet to act on the agreement.

County Treasurer Deb Ruholl reported her office approved the third distribution of county property tax revenue, totaling just under $3 million. Julie Reedy was recognized on her retirement after 10 years in the Effingham County State's Attorney Office. Board member Norbert Soltwedel noted that Noon Rotary and the City of Effingham will cooperate on a covered shelter for a bus stop along 4th Street next to the Effingham County Office Building.
