Lawyers for a group of voters objecting to Donald Trump’s candidacy in Illinois appeared in a Chicago courtroom Friday to argue their case.

Capitol News Illinois reports the case revolves around whether Trump is eligible to run in Illinois – and objectors point to a provision in the 14th Amendment to the U-S constitution as grounds to kick him off the ballot.

Objectors say Trump engaged in an insurrection, and is therefore disqualified. A similar argument went before the nation’s high court last week in a case from Colorado. No date has been set for justices to rule on that case.

Friday’s arguments focused on whether the Illinois State Board of Elections made a mistake in allowing Trump to appear on the March 19 primary ballot. Attorneys for the Trump campaign say the issue is political, and there is no law to keep the former president from running.
