New signage is being acquired for Lake Land College, both at the main campus in Mattoon and at the Effingham Technology Center.

The electronic marquee for the main campus will face Interstate 57 as it passes the campus. The two 10-foot-by-36-foot LED sign displays will cost $240,608.20.

The project has been discussed for several years as a way to make the campus more visible to motorists traveling through the area.

For the Effingham campus, trustees purchased a new double-sided illuminated sign display to replace the existing pedestal sign at the main parking entrance on Willenborg Avenue. The sign will cost $59,174.06.

Trustees also voted to approve an increase in the cost of audit services for the college.

After approving a three-year agreement with Martin Hood LLC of Champaign in 2023, the firm has now asked for an 11.5% increase in the fee for Fiscal Year 2024 and another 5% for Fiscal Year 2025.

After discussion among the trustees, the vote to approve the increase was approved, with Trustee Tom Wright of Dieterich voting against the motion.
