The Effingham Performance Center announces community outreach opportunities for area senior citizens and students to participate in live performances and workshops where they will get an inside look at the national touring production of "Forever Young".

"Forever Young" -- which will take the stage at The EPC at 7 p.m. on Friday, February 23 -- is a high energy and heartfelt show about five best friends whose love for music helped shape their lives. Within the cast are seasoned Broadway performers, certified teachers, directors, and composers.

As part of the performers' stop in Effingham, they will be presenting a free preview of their show at area senior living centers, including an event at the Effingham Senior Center at noon on Thursday, February 22. The cast will also host a Theatre Workshop from 3:30 pm to 4:30 p.m. at the Effingham Performance Center. The workshop will include Vocal/Choreography Clinics, Mock Auditions, Q&A Sessions, Audition Coaching, and much more.

“We are looking forward to bringing the Forever Young production to the stage at The EPC, but we are even more excited to go out into the community to share music and stories to our residents who may not be able to attend our shows,” said Kim Jansen, executive director of The EPC.

Jansen added that she also is excited to give area students, especially those interested in theatre, an opportunity to learn about careers in performing arts. “The performers have worked with choirs, bands, and theatre troupes of all ages,” said Jansen. “They can’t wait to share all that they’ve learned in their decades in the entertainment industry with area students.”
