Homestead Exemption Renewal Forms Out February 6

Effingham County Supervisor of Assessments Pam Braun has announced that the 2024 Homestead Exemption Renewal Forms will be mailed Tuesday February 6th.
Due date is June 1st, 2024 so please review and make sure you have all the information to file before doing so. They can be mailed or returned in person to the S of A office. These exemption Renewals are for those who have made application or renewal for the 2023 Tax Year.
This includes:
Senior Homestead/Freeze (65 years of age/$65,000 or under Household Income) you can still qualify for Senior Homestead even if income is over $65,000, (BLUE FORMS)
Disabled Persons (must be declared disabled in tax year) (CREAM FORMS)
Disabled Veterans (must be rated 30% or more in tax year and submit a Letter of Rating from the VA). (PURPLE FORMS)
New Applications for those turning 65 during the 2024 year or newly qualified Disabled Persons or Veterans must file in person the first time in the S of A office. If you change primary residency, you must also file a new application. Homestead Exemptions can make a deduction in your property assessment prior to property taxes being calculated.

Office Hours are 8 am to 4 pm Monday thru Friday on the 4th Floor of the Effingham County Building located at 101 N Fourth St, Effingham, IL.
