First Friday Audience Learns About Wright Family Center

The Wright Family Center in Dieterich will be opening within days.

The director of the Center, Traci Bruns, served as guest speaker at the February First Friday Luncheon sponsored by the Effingham County Chamber of Commerce.

Bruns, a member of the Dieterich Park Board, said the Center was the result of the MAPPING initiative undertaken in Dieterich in recent years. The two biggest drivers in the initiative were a growing need for daycare in Dieterich as well as for recreational facilities. Contributions from the Dieterich community along with a significant state grant led to construction of the center.

The facility features a daycare facility for 50 students, a gymnasium with a walking track, a workout facility with 24-hour access, and three community rooms that are available to rent.

Bruns said the Center will open later this month, and a Chamber-facilitated grand opening will take place the morning of March 8.
