North Clay school board members Wednesday received information on an emergency project needed to replace the original 30-ton heating and cooling unit in the Commons Building at Louisville. The Board accepted a quote of $66,664 from Merz Heating and Air Conditioning of Effingham.

The Board also heard from District Transportation Director Bryan West on board options and information regarding seeking bus bids, then voted to seek the bids. Information was also shared from Ryan Fuhler and Justin Luitjohan from Poettker Construction on construction projects. No action was taken.

The Board also heard a presentation from junior high Science teacher Adam Frederick on a prospective Robotics program for North Clay students.

In personnel moves, the North Clay Board accepted the resignation of Cathy Hall as a fulltime cook, but retained Hall as a sub cook; accepted the resignation of Brandon Repking as assistant high school baseball coach but retained him as a volunteer; accepted the resignation of Denise Phillps as girls 5th and 6th grade basketball coach; hired Gracey Himelick as head junior high softball coach; hired Kaitlin Zink as assistant junior high softball coach; authorized the Administration to hire necessary non-certified staff; and authorized the posting of anticipated elementary teaching positions for the coming school year.

North Clay board members also heard from high school principal Sarah Newby about the A Bench for Caps effort. Science Club members collected, cleaned and sorted nearly 100 pounds of caps to be used by Greenland Gardening to start a plan for memorial benches in Clay and Richland counties for families affected by cancer.
