The Effingham City/County Enterprise Zone Board Wednesday recommended the annexation of Prairie Ace Estates into the Zone.

The 50.31-acre triangular shaped tract of land includes 41 lots. Developer Scott Conant and realtor Keith Hartman said that 27 lots in the subdivision near Effingham Country Club are still for sale and two spec houses are currently under construction.

The annexation into the Zone would need approval from the Effingham City Council, the Effingham County Board, and the Teutopolis Village Board.

Board members also Wednesday reviewed progress made in the Enterprise Zone during 2023, including 16 projects, three of which were residential; $31.9 million in total investments, and the creation of 139 jobs in the Zone.
