Clay County board members heard this week that a committee is being formed to mark the 200th anniversary of the county.

Clay County was established by the state legislature at the end of 1824.

Those interested in working on the project should contact Clay County Clerk Amy Britton.

Also, Sheriff Andy Myers said that County ESDA Coordinator Steve Lewis is working with law enforcement to deal with the upcoming solar eclipse on April 8.

Myers said they are working with the Village of Louisville, which has requested more patrol hours in the village.

States Attorney Phillip Givens reported that three conflicts public defenders have been appointed for the county...Mark Tungate, Mary Beth Welch Collins, and Lindsay Wantuck.

Clay board members also approved ARPA funds for a new Clay County website.
