The Effingham County Supervisor of Assessments will be mailing out the 2024 Property Tax Exemption Renewal Forms in the next few weeks. The suggested due date is not until June 1, 2024.
These exemption forms are for those who have already signed up for the 2023 Tax Year for a Homestead Exemption and possibly qualify for a renewal. These exemptions include the Senior Homestead/Freeze (65 years of age/$65,000 or under Household Income). You can still qualify for Senior Homestead even if income is over $65,000, Disabled Persons (must be declared disabled in tax year) and Disabled Veterans (must be rated 30% or more in tax year and submit a Letter of Rating from the VA). Homestead Exemptions can make a deduction in your property assessment prior to property taxes being calculated.
There are several exemptions you may qualify for; you can check your exemptions at the Supervisor of Assessments website at https://effinghamil.devnetwedge.com/ or contact the Supervisor of Assessments office for more information.
