A crash resulting in injuries occured just after midnight Saturday morning.

The Effingham County Sheriff's Office reports the crash occurred on Crystal Club Road, south of Althoff Drive at 12:08am.

A car driven by 19-year-old Kyle Stewart of Effingham was southbound. Authorities say Stewart was driving too fast for conditions. The car hit a hillcrest and Stewart lost control of the vehicle on the downhill side. The car ran off the left side of the roadway and struck numerous trees. The car came to rest on a steep ravine being held up by a tree.

Authorities say two passengers in the car; 19-year-old Kayden Althoff of Teutopolis and 20-year-old Parker Wolfe of Dieterich; were injured and were taken by ambulance to HSHS St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital in Effingham for treatment.

Stewart was cited for consumption of alcohol by a minor and illegal transportation of alcohol.
