(TYLER ROE)

A Brownstown man is housed at Fayette County Jail following a shooting incident that occurred on Saturday night.

36-year-old Tyler J. Roe is in jail after what was an officer-involved shooting that occurred in the 2400 block of 2150th Street north of St. Elmo. Illinois State Police report that at about 7pm Saturday, local officers received a call of a burglary to a residence in the 1600 block of North 1550th Street at Brownstown. The burglary was reported as in progress with shots fired.

Police say Roe fled the scene in a vehicle he stole from the victim's residence. The Fayette County Sheriff's Department located the vehicle and initiated a pursuit. Farina Police assisted. One of their officers completed a successful procedure known as a precision immobilization technique that caused the vehicle to come to a stop.

As officers approached the vehicle, a Farina police officer discharged his weapon, striking Roe, who sustained gunshot wounds and was taken to an area hospital for treatment. No law enforcement officers were injured in the incident.

Roe was later released from the hospital and booked at Fayette County Jail.

A house fire is still being investigated that appears to be related to the burglary incident.
