An Effingham County man has been sentenced in Jasper County to prison time.

20-year-old Jaden A. Budde was sentenced by Judge Kevin Parker to a total of 25 years on a Class X felony count of predatory criminal sexual assault of a child as well as felony counts of aggravated battery to a peace officer and threatening a public official. Budde was also sentenced to concurrent terms of seven years for child pornography and five years for aggravated criminal sexual abuse.

According to Jasper County State's Attorney James Treccia, Budde was arrested following an investigation by Newton City Police into the various sex offenses. Child sex abuse material was later located on the phone collected from Budde during his arrest. While being held in custody, Budde committed aggravated battery to a peace officer after repeatedly striking and spitting on a Newton city police officer while the officer aided Jasper County corrections officers in moving Budde to a new cell. Budde later threatened to stab one of the correctional officers during an altercation at the jail.

Treccia commended Newton police for their "thorough investigation" as well as the Jasper County Corrections officials "that had to often deal with the violent outbursts of Budde while he was detained" prior to his prison term. Treccia also said he hopes that the victims and their families can find some solace in the resolution of the case.
