Fire Call to Cardinal Golf Course Clubhouse Caused by Furnace Blower Motor; No Fire

What was first reported as a fire in the clubhouse at Cardinal Golf Course Tuesday night turned out to not be quite as serious as was first feared.

A report that the clubhouse near Lake Sara was filled with smoke was accurate. The smoke was caused when the blower motor on the furnace quit working. There was no other damage.

Shumway firefighters were assisted by fire companies from Watson, Effingham, Sigel, Beecher City Tri-County, and Altamont. Firefighters were able to vent the smoke out of the building.
