The Salvation Army of Effingham County invites members of the public to participate in its annual Red Kettle Campaign this Christmas season.

Volunteers are needed to ring the bell at the red kettles in locations throughout Effingham.

Businesses, churches, community organizations, school groups, individuals and families who want to make a difference in Effingham County are encouraged to ring the bell.

The money raised in Effingham County remains in the community and will be used to assist those in need in the community throughout 2024. Services offered by the Salvation Army include assistance for food, clothing, utilities, medication, rent, and disaster relief as well as crisis-related needs.

It's the hope of the Salvation Army that services can grow, but volunteers are needed this season to raise the funds that will provide for these services in the county.

To volunteer with Salvation Army or to register to ring the bell this season, contact Roger Friese, the committee chair, at 217-343-8215 or e-mail mid-se@usc.salvationarmy.org.

The Red Kettle Campaign runs from November 22 through December 23.

Salvation Army Bellringer locations this year will include Kirby Foods IGA, Niemerg's Steak House, Rural King, Sav-a-Lot Foods, and both doors at Wal-Mart.
