Dieterich village board members learned more about the operational plans of the Wright Family Center once it opens early next year.

Traci Bruns has been hired as the first director of the Center. Bruns has lived in the Dieterich community for several years, but is an Altamont native. She has worked on recreational programs in Dieterich, and is now tasked with developing the plans for memberships, facility rentals, and hours of operation at the Center.

The Center was originally to open this fall, but the State granted an extension until October of 2024 to get the facility completed. State grant funding is playing a large part in getting the Center finished.

The day care portion of the Center is to be completed in January, but the remainder of the facility has a substantial completion date of February 9.

The village board approved several items related to the Wright Family Center; tentatively approved the fiscal year tax levy; approved a lease with Effingham County 911 to place an antenna to help complete the system of antennas for a countywide communication system for county fire departments; and approved a donation to the Dieterich Community Ruritan Club to assist with bringing Santa Claus to Dieterich on December 17.
