A charge of attempted murder has been dismissed against a Clay City woman.

48-year-old Laura Bricker had been charged with burning down the home of Zebulen Oestreich, located on the outskirts of Clay City, in late June with the intent to kill Oestreich.

Oestereich was not injured.

In addition to dismissing the attempted murder charge, Clay County State's Attorney Phillip Givens reduced a residential arson charge to a simple count of arson.

Judge Joel Powless sentenced Bricker to 180 days in jail and placed her on four years' probation. Bricker must also pay more than $5,000 in fines and must undergo drug treatment.
