Effingham Veterans Day Ceremony Saturday

The 2023 Effingham Community Veterans Day ceremony will take place this Saturday at 10:30. The ceremony will be held on the lawn of the Effingham County Courthouse Museum.

This year's ceremony will be hosted by Effingham VFW Post #1769, and Post Commander Gary Buenekemper will serve as Master of Ceremonies.

The guest speaker is Buenekemper's longtime and fellow servicemember Marvin Cottrill, who is coming from Paynesville, Minnesota to serve as the speaker.

Pastor Martin Reyes of First Christian Church of Effingham will offer the invocation and deliver the benediction. Bob and Charlie McWhorter will raise the colors, and Bill Copple will lead the firing squad. Matt Stead will play "Taps", while Patrick and Julie Zuber will sing the National Anthem.
