Names Released of Those Killed in Friday, Sunday Crashes in Jasper County

Jasper County Coroner Jason Meyer has released the names of those killed in crashes that occurred Friday and Sunday nights.

Meyer said the person killed in the Friday night crash was 24-year-old Landon Tracy of Robinson. The crash happened about 11pm on the Bogota Road, southwest of Newton. Tracy was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash. The Jasper County Sheriff's Office said the complete report on the crash should be available Wednesday.

The other crash occurred at 7:21pm Sunday on Illinois Route 33 at 1800th Street in the Zook's Nook area.

The person killed was 87-year-old Leda Short of Willow Hill. Meyer said Short was pronounced dead at the scene.

State Police reported a semi turned and was struck by the Short vehicle, then by a following car. The driver of the following car was taken for treatment, while the driver of the semi was not injured.
