The Illinois Department of Transportation has announced the closure of south bound Henrietta St. this Friday morning at 9:00 from Fayette Ave., south 200 ft.
One lane will remain open north bound Friday. Saturday morning, the south and north bound lanes of Henrietta St. will be closed south of Fayette Ave.
Saturday evening one lane in each direction will be open to traffic on Henrietta St.
This closure is part of the Fayette Ave reconstruction project in Effingham. This closure is needed to construct a drainage structure that carries stormwater along Fayette Ave. from the east side of Henrietta Street to the west side of Henrietta Street. A marked detour will be in place for US 40 traffic utilizing Outer Belt West and Fayette Avenue. Local traffic can use Raney St. and Grove Ave. to access the destination from south of the closure to Grove Avenue.
Motorists can expect delays and should allow extra time for trips through this area. To avoid the work area, when feasible, use of alternate routes should be considered. Drivers are urged to pay close attention to changed conditions and signs in the work zones, obey the posted speed limits, refrain from using mobile devices and be alert for workers and equipment.
