The Effingham City Zoning Board of Appeals voted to grant a variance for a property at 1302 Kollmeyer in Historic Hills Subdivision.
The variance grants permission for construction of an accessory building and a reduction in the required front yard setback. The petitioners representing the Michelle L. Brumleve Living Trust requested the variance due to the topography of the property. While the lot is large, the topography falls off into a steep ravine.
The Brumleves also presented letters from neighboring property owners saying that they approved the granting of the petition.
Members of the Board of Appeals agreed that the topography of the lot made the variance request a justifiable hardship.
