Probable cause was found Monday to hold a Mulberry Grove man over for trial in Fayette County Circuit Court. 70-year-old Ronald Thielemann was arrested on October 18 following allegations that Thielemann fired shots while authorities investigated a domestic incident.

The Fayette County Sheriff's Office received a 911 call to a residence near Mulberry Grove shortly before 8pm on the 18th. Fayette County deputies responded to the location, along with personnel from the Vandalia Police Department and the Bond County Sheriff's Office. According to reports, law enforcement attempted to contact and negotiate with Thielemann. A shot was allegedly fired from the residence while authorities were attempting to get Thielemann to leave the home. Thielemann reportedly exited the residence without incident about 15 minutes later.

During Monday's hearing, Judge Allan Lolie found that Thielemann needed to be detained in custody. Thielemann will next be in court on November 14.

Thielemann is charged with a Class X felony count of aggravated discharge of a firearm, along with a felony count of aggravated unlawful restraint, and two felony counts of aggravated assault involving discharge of a firearm.
