Voter Registration Software Approved and more at County Board Meeting

At Monday night's Effingham County Board meeting, officials approved payment for new voter registration software for the County Clerk’s office.  The software will have the option for voters to check, through the county website, their voting address, polling place, and status of their vote by mail ballot.  It will also have the ability for election results to be posted online on election night. 

In addition to the software approval;

- A moment of silence was held for the people at the Teutopolis anhydrous ammonia incident.  Board member Jeremy Deters presented a resolution in Support and Honor of the Public Safety Employees and Volunteers of Effingham County.  

- The board approved the Resolution  - State of Illinois Community Development Block Grant Coronavirus Program.   This is with the Business Resiliency Grant which assisted 9 businesses in Effingham County with a total grant amount of $125,599.36. 

- Sheriff Paul Kuhns reported on a program to provide mental care for inmates in the county jail. 

- States Attorney Aaron Jones noted that the Safe-T Act has been in effect for one month.  

- Treasurer Deb Ruholl also mentioned that the second installment of Effingham County property taxes are due on Friday, November 3rd.   The first distribution of the taxes will be done by the end of this week. 

- The fiscal year 2024 budget was placed on a 30-day layover for public viewing. 

- Kelly Lockhart was introduced as the new Effingham County Program Compliance Oversight Monitor.  He will take over this position on November 1, 2023.
