A Clay City woman has been ordered detained on counts of attempted first degree murder and residential arson.

48-year-old Laura L. Bricker was arrested Monday night on a warrant by the Clay County Sheriff's Office, following an investigation by the Illinois State Fire Marshal's Office.

Clay County State's Attorney Phillip Givens said it's alleged that Bricker burned down the home of Zebulon Oestreich, located on the outskirts of Clay City, in late June with the intent to kill Oestreich.

Oestreich was not injured in the incident.

Judge Joel Powless found reason to hold Bricker in custody in Clay County Jail in Louisville.

Givens said Bricker is next due in court on October 30 for a preliminary hearing.
