Two people were injured Tuesday morning when their vehicles collided just west of Dieterich on Illinois Route 33.

The crash happened at 7:38am. Effingham County Sheriff's Office reported a car driven by 46-year-old Sabina Winterrowd of Dieterich was headed west. Winterrowd slowed to stop for an uninvolved vehicle waiting to turn off the highway onto 2200th Street. 35-year-old Allison Meinhart of Dieterich was also headed west and didn't see that traffic was stopped. Meinhart struck the Winterrowd car from behind, with both vehicles coming to a stop on the highway.

Meinhart was treated on scene by Rural Med EMS, but refused to be taken for treatment. Winterrowd was transported by Rural Med to HSHS St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital in Effingham.

Meinhart was cited for failure to reduce speed to avoid the crash.
