Man Fatally Injured in Fayette County Crash Identified as Missouri Man

The person fatally injured in a crash in Fayette County Sunday night has been identified as a Columbia, Missouri man.

Sangamon County Coroner Jim Allmon said the man was identified as 53-year-old Jason Cook. Cook was driving a SUV that collided with a pickup truck on I-70 westbound near Brownstown just before 10pm.

Cook's vehicle rolled over several times after colliding with the pickup truck, coming to a stop in the median. Cook was airlifted to HSHS St. John's Hospital in Springfield where he died of his injuries just before midnight Sunday. The pickup truck driver was not injured.

Allmon said Cook died from multiple blunt force injuries.
