Effingham Fire Department and Illinois State Police are investigating an incident involving two vehicles on I-70 eastbound just west of Effingham early today.

The incident occurred about 3am. A pickup traveling eastbound sideswiped a semi parked on the shoulder of the roadway. The driver of the pickup truck has not been located.

Effingham Fire Chief Brant Yochum and Bruce Waggoner of the Illinois State Police confirmed that the pickup truck was stolen. Yochum said authorities searched the crash area for about 90 minutes utilizing a drone, but could not locate the driver.

Yochum said the impact took two doors and the roof off of the pickup truck.

Waggoner said the stolen vehicle is not from this immediate area.
