Dieterich village board members this week discussed prices for gravesites in the village cemetery and how those graves should be sold.
There was discussion of selling gravesites individually or in pairs as is the current practice. Dieterich Village Clerk Brittny Gipson checked with other communities to find out their practice to get some input for village board members.
The Board endorsed a letter of recommendation from the village Board of Zoning Appeals and Planning regarding replatting two lots into one. The affected property involves the former Mark's Market location and the neighboring lot. The plan is to develop a bar and restaurant to be known as The Railyard, acknowledging Dieterich's history as being established along the railroad.
The Board also reauthorized the lease of space on the village water tower for Rides Mass Transit District for an antenna to communicate with the Rides buses. Also approved was a change order for the Wright Family Center reducing the cost by $4,982, a purchase of fitness equipment for the Wright Family Center from Fitness Superstore for $67,041.84, and a purchase of two board room tables and four chairs from Wright Furniture and Flooring for $2,544. It was also decided to acquire three refurbished laptops for board members. If these units work well, more will be acquired.
