Motion to Reconsider Suit Against Assault Weapons Ban Filed in Effingham County

A motion to reconsider the decision to dismiss a suit filed against the Assault Weapons Ban has been filed in Effingham County.

Greenville attorney Thomas DeVore filed the motion to reconsider on Thursday, arguing the ban violates equal protection under the law.

4th Circuit Chief Judge Douglas Jarman dismissed the suit in August, following a decision to dismiss a similar case by the Illinois Supreme Court.

Accuracy Firearms of Effingham and a host of other plaintiffs joined in the suit to dismiss the Assault Weapons Ban.

While the matter was addressed in Illinois courts, suits against the Assault Weapons Ban are still alive in Federal court.
