Dieterich Planning for April Solar Eclipse

Plans are well underway in Dieterich for the Party in the Path of the Total Solar Eclipse in April of next year.

Dieterich will be in the path of totality, or complete darkness, for over two minutes on the afternoon of Monday, April 8, 2024. The celebration, which will last two days beginning on Sunday, April 7, will include musical entertainment, kids activities, food, beverages, a presentation by an astronomer and meteorologist and more.

To help fund the event and spread the excitement about the eclipse, an online T-shirt shop is available until September 22. Each T-shirt purchase comes with a pair of eclipse-viewing glasses. The link to the online store can be found on the Dieterich Business Association Facebook page and on the website for Spectrum Screen Graphics. You can also order in person at Dieterich Village Hall. The items will arrive in time for Christmas!

The Dieterich Business Association Facebook page also includes advice on preparing for the eclipse and will be updated as plans are finalized.

Outside of the path of totalitty, or total darkness, even if the sun is 99% covered, the sky is still too bright to get the full solar eclipse experience.
