Both candidates for the Republican nomination for Congress in the 12th District have issued statements regarding the impeachment investigation of President Joe Biden.

Incumbent Congressman Mike Bost said he supports House Speaker Kevin McCarthy's decision to launch a formal impeachment inquiry into the president's involvement in his son Hunter Biden's foreign business dealings.

Bost said, "Joe Biden lied to the American people about his family's shady business dealings. His family and their associates appear to have profited $20 million, in large part because of his personal participation in dozens of meetings with foreign actors. These allegations of corruption and abuse of power are devastating and warrant a full impeachment inquiry."

Bost's challenger for the Congressional nomination, Darren Bailey, is asking for Biden to be impeached. In his remarks, Bailey said, "Friends, we need bold and courageous leadership in our Republican Party and from our representatives in government. We, the American people, have entrusted our representatives in Washington DC with power. Now, it's time for them to exercise it boldly. It's time for Republicans to stand up and impeach Joe Biden, the head of the Biden Crime Family."  He added, "more and more evidence implicates Joe Biden in his son's shady business dealings. The White House hides emails tied to bogus accounts Crooked Joe created to dodge FOIA requests."
