Dieterich school board members were updated Monday night on renovation and expansion work in the district.

Dieterich Superintendent Cary Jackson reported the gym lobby renovations are nearing completion, and all other areas are ahead of schedule. The south addition is to be finished in late October or early November, and that the north addition and the elementary addition are to be completed in December.

The Board approved a FFA trip to the annual convention in Indianapolis in November, and approved applying for a construction grant. The $50,000 grant would help with the costs of a new parking lot. Also approved was a district bullying policy, which will be posted on the district website, and approved individual participation for two students in IHSA Track and Field.

Board members approved district budget for the coming fiscal year, which will run a large deficit due to expected construction costs. Revenues are estimated at $7,724,500.52 while expenditures are estimated at $12,028,707.38. The Board also heard that current enrollment is 608, exactly the same as last year at this point.

Dieterich board members heard from junior/senior high school Guidance Counselor Tammy Bloemer and Principal Scott Kocher on the current state of course offerings and possible future course offerings.

In personnel moves, the Dieterich board accepted a resignation from Nikki Earnest as junior high Student Council co-sponsor and hired Carsen Funneman for that position. The Board hired elementary student workers Delaney Miller, Olivia Brummer and Adriana Gordon, after school program student workers Ryan Galbraith, Grace Jackson and Jacey Hayes, and custodian Breanna Orsburn. The Board approved an extended leave of absence for Lindsay Burton through the end of the calendar year, and approved a leave of absence totaling five days for Carsen Funneman from March 25-29, three personal days and two unpaid days.
