Schoonover Murder Trial Set for November 20

A November 20 trial date has been set in the murder case of Paul Schoonover.

The Newton man is charged in the June death of 59-year-old Terry Eastep of Newton. Authorities located Eastep on June 8 inside a residence in Newton. Eastep died of those injuries on June 11.

Judge Kevin Parker Thursday set Schoonover's trial date, with a final pretrial on October 31.

Schoonover is being held in Jasper County Jail on $1.5 million bond on counts of first degree murder and aggravated battery.
