A Flora man was given prison time for violating his probation on a drug charge.
29-year-old John Sherman was previously placed on two years' probation for unlawful possession of methamphetamine in February of 2022. Clay County State's Attorney Phillip Givens said Sherman failed to report to Clay County Probation on multiple occasions and failed to complete a substance abuse evaluation.
Sherman was taken back to court and was sentenced Wednesday by Judge Chad Miller to 30 months in prison.
Flora police and the Clay County Probation Department worked together on the case.
