"When Effingham thrives, Illinois thrives".

That was one of Bruce Rauner's first statements to the crowd Wednesday afternoon. Rauner is running as a Republican candidate for Governor of Illinois. Joe Emmerich, President of John Boos & Co introduced Rauner to the crowd gathered inside his factory on Effingham's south side.

In his statement to a crowd of 30-40 people, Rauner laid out his plan for Illinois, which consists of 4 goals to improve the state:

  • Make Illinois the number one state in America for job growth and creation
  • Make the government in the state of Illinois the most efficient, effective and transparent in the nation
  • Build the education system in Illinois to be the best in America
  • Initiate term limits for all politicians in the state of Illinois

Rauner went on to talk about the broken pension system in Illinois, the state's deficit, and wasteful spending. In total, he spoke for about 15 minutes, and answered several questions from the crowd afterwards.

We recorded video of Rauner's entire speech, and it's available below.
