Vandalia Teen Killed in Sunday Night Crash

A 17-year-old from Vandalia was killed in a single-vehicle crash Sunday night.

Fayette County Coroner David Harris said Olivia M. Blain drove off US Route 51 north of Vandalia shortly before 10pm Sunday. The vehicle struck the end of a bridge and came to rest on an embankment. Harris pronounced Blain dead at the scene.

Illinois State Police, Vandalia Fire Department, Fayette County Sheriff's Office and the Illinois Department of Natural Resources all assisted Harris' office at the scene. State Police and Harris' office are continuing the investigation into the crash.
