The President and CEO of Hospital Sisters Health Systems has confirmed that the systemwide outage experienced by HSHS was due to a "cybersecurity incident".

HSHS President and CEO Damond Boatwright said the network began experiencing interrruptions on Sunday morning. Boatwright, however, said that staff began implementing incident response protocols and began to determine what happened. Those steps, Boatwright said, allowed HSHS to remain operational and to continue treating their patients.

Boatwright said HSHS is working with law enforcement and said they have not found any other unauthorized access in the system's IT environment. He said that more information will be shared when possible, but underscored that there will be some information that they will not be able to share. He said that is to protect the security of the system and the privacy of HSHS patients.
