4X4, Pickup Truck Collide on Moccasin Road

A 4X4 and a pickup truck collided Monday afternoon on Moccasin Road, just east of 700th Street.

The 14-year-old female from Shumway operating the 4X4 left a driveway onto Moccasin Road. The pickup truck driven by 70-year-old Jerry Bales of Toledo struck the unit in the back driver side. The contact caused the 4X4 to overturn 1-1/2 times, ejecting the driver of the 4X4 from the vehicle. 

Both the driver of the 4X4 and her 15-year-old passenger from Effingham were airlifted from the scene and flown to Cardinal Glennon Hospital in St. Louis for treatment. Bales was not injured.

The juvenile driver will be cited for failure to yield, no valid drivers license, and illegal operation of an ATV on a roadway. The crash happened at 5:55pm Monday.
