Effingham Unit 40 board members took care of some items Monday ahead of the start of the school year this Thursday.

The Board approved its hazardous bus routes resolution, which involves the same routes as last school year. The resolution allows the district to pick up students in those areas even if they are less than 1-1/2 miles from their school building.

The Board approved a tuition waiver for non-resident students whose parents work for Unit 40. Board members also authorized Superintendent Andy Johnson to fill personnel vacancies between now and the regular monthly board meeting next Monday night. The Board will then formally act on those hirings at Monday's meeting.

In the meantime, the Board took care of some personnel moves last night.
