The Lake Land College Board of Trustees met in Effingham Monday night at the new home for Effingham-based operations.

The college acquired Patterson Technology Center. Patterson will continue operations in the lower level of the building, while Lake Land will utilize the rest of the facility. Classes that have been housed in the Kluthe Center for Higher Education and Technology will relocate to the new facility. The building will also house what is being developed as the Effingham Regional Career Academy. Other uses are being identified for the Kluthe Building.

The final names for the facilities are still being decided. Names for the various areas in the Effingham Technology Center are being determined as donations are received by the college. Jerry Tkachuk, who oversees off campus operations for Lake Land, suggested that the Effingham Regional Career Academy might not be the final name for the operation.

The Board of Trustees named Lake Land Chief of Staff Jean Anne Highland as college treasurer. Highland was named treasurer due to the resignation of Greg Nuxoll as Lake Land's Vice President for Business Services. Nuxoll is taking a job in the private sector. A search is underway for Nuxoll's successor.

Board members also hired Surface 51 of Champaign to redesign the college's website for a figure not to exceed $50,000, and hired Schaumburg and Schaumburg of Danville to reconstruct the college softball press box for just under $180,000.

The Board approved the RAMP document for submittal to the State, outlining major capital improvement projects in the next several years. The top four priority projects are work on the Northwest Building, Northeast Building, West Building, and the college library. College President Josh Bullock said to not expect any capital outlay from the State in the next year or two.

Trustees also approved the establishment of a Skeet and Trap Shooting Team for the college. Josh Fulk will coach the first team, which will begin competition this coming school year. No weapons will be allowed on campus; practice and competitions will take place off-campus. Up to 10 members can be a part of the inaugural team.
