There were 4.2 days suitable for field work during the week ending August 13, 2023.

Statewide, the average temperature was 73.6 degrees, 0.2 degrees below normal. Precipitation averaged 1.34 inches, 0.51 inches above normal.

Topsoil moisture supply was rated 3 percent very short, 13 percent short, 66 percent adequate, and 18 percent surplus. Subsoil moisture supply was rated 9 percent very short, 22 percent short, 65 percent adequate, and 4 percent surplus.

Corn dough reached 71 percent, equal to the 5-year average. Corn dented reached 20 percent, equal to the 5-year average. Corn condition was rated 3 percent very poor, 6 percent poor, 27 percent fair, 56 percent good, and 8 percent excellent.

Soybeans blooming reached 95 percent, compared to the 5-year average of 93 percent. Soybeans setting pods reached 80 percent, compared to the 5-year average of 75 percent. Soybean condition was rated 2 percent very poor, 7 percent poor, 21 percent fair, 59 percent good, and 11 percent excellent.
