Bond for Schoonover Set at $1.5 Million

Probable cause was found Tuesday morning to hold murder suspect Paul Schoonover over for trial on charges of murder and aggravated battery.

The 30-year-old Schoonover is charged with the death of 59-year-old Terry Eastep of Newton in June.

Judge Kevin Parker set bond for the Newton man at $1.5 million on five counts of first degree murder and two counts of aggravated battery. He is due back in court on September 7 for a preliminary hearing.

Schoonover is already scheduled to go on trial in Jasper County Circuit Court in September on a count of obstructing justice.
