A Xenia man has been found guilty of Criminal Sexual Assault after a Jury Trial on Monday.

42-year-old Jesse W. Goff committed the offense of Criminal Sexual Assault, a Class 1 Felony, by committing an act with a 13-year-old minor between the months of August and December 2019, while holding a position of trust, authority, and supervision in relation to the minor. The Jury unanimously returned a Guilty verdict after hearing testimony and evidence presented by the State. A Sentencing Hearing is set on September 18, 2023. The State’s Motion to Revoke Bond was granted at the conclusion of trial, and Goff was remanded into custody. Goff is not eligible for probation and is facing a range of 4-15 years to the Illinois Department of Corrections to be served at 85%.

The initial investigation was conducted by the Clay County Sheriff’s Office and the Illinois State Police.

Clay County State’s Attorney Phillip Givens said: “We are happy the victim in this case received justice. We want to thank the Clay County Sheriff’s Office, the Illinois State Police, and the Amy Center for their willingness to work together to help us achieve justice. I also want to thank my Assistant State’s Attorney, Victim’s Advocate, and Staff for all their hard work during the duration of this case.”
