Fire Call to Taco Bell This Morning (UPDATE)

Local firefighters were called to Taco Bell on Keller Drive this morning.

The call came about 7am due to a report of flames from an electrical box near the grease trap. 

Effingham Assistant Fire Chief Matt Kulesza said a flash fire from the deep fryer resulted in the call. The deep fryer was isolated and a repair person was to make corrections before opening time.

Teutopolis and Shumway firefighters assisted Effingham firefighters with the call under their auto aid agreement. No one was injured.

Kulesza said the restaurant will remain closed for the rest of Monday, but it's hoped that repairs can be made allowing the restaurant to reopen Tuesday.
