Both of the Republican candidates for the 12th Congressional District in 2024 are in the news.

(CONGRESSMAN MIKE BOST)

Congress has approved an amendment offered by Congressman Mike Bost that prohibits the Department of Veterans Affairs from sending veterans' names to the Department of Justice for a background check. Under current law, when the VA appoints a fiduciary to help veterans with their finances, the veterans' personal information is forwarded to the National Instant Criminal Background Check System. Bost said the action is taken without judicial review or due process.

Bost's amendment was included in the yearly funding bill for military construction and veterans' programs.

(DARREN BAILEY)

Meanwhile, Congressional candidate Darren Bailey has signed the US Congressional Term Limits Pledge. Bailey's release regarding the signing says he believes term limits are necessary, and they promote fresh perspectives and encourage greater civic participation from everyday Americans in the political process.
