There were 5.7 days suitable for field work during the week ending July 30, 2023.

Statewide, the average temperature was 79.8 degrees, 5 degrees above normal. Precipitation averaged 0.95 inches, 0.08 inches above normal.

Topsoil moisture supply was rated 17 percent very short, 30 percent short, 51 percent adequate, and 2 percent surplus. Subsoil moisture supply was rated 15 percent very short, 32 percent short, 52 percent adequate, and 1 percent surplus.

Corn silking reached 95 percent, compared to the 5-year average of 88 percent. Corn dough reached 35 percent, compared to the 5-year average of 38 percent. Corn condition was rated 7 percent very poor, 12 percent poor, 32 percent fair, 42 percent good, and 7 percent excellent.

Soybeans blooming reached 89 percent, compared to the 5-year average of 76 percent. Soybeans setting pods reached 59 percent, compared to the 5-year average of 46 percent. Soybean condition was rated 8 percent very poor, 12 percent poor, 34 percent fair, 39 percent good, and 7 percent excellent.
