Scam Report at Teutopolis Businesses

Ameren Illinois contacted us Friday afternoon about a scam attempting to involve businesses in Teutopolis.

The Ameren representative said people were phoning Teutopolis business locations and requesting payment on what they said were overdue bills. The callers were specifically asking for the businesspeople to go to Dollar General and buy gift cards to send to the scammer.

Ameren Illinois reminded us that they will never phone a business or individual or go to their door to demand payment.

Just hang up.
