79th Effingham County Fair Opens Saturday

The 79th Effingham County Fair officially opens Saturday.

The theme for this year's fair is "Agriculture: An American Heritage".

The fair will run through Saturday, August 5.

Special attractions on Saturday will include a 5K run and walk at 7:30am; a car show sponsored by Heartland Towing at 9am; ranch sorting at 10am, Cdubs Inflatables from noon to 10pm; and Pro Pulling League Champions League competition at 6:30pm sponsored by Beck's and Nelson Trucking.

Here's the judging schedule for Saturday:

10am--Judging Classes J-P in the Exhibition Hall

10:30am--4-H Boer Goat Show

10:30am--Tractor Driving

4pm--Pee Wee Show

6pm--Junior Swine Show

Sunday will be a busy day at the fairgrounds. Here's the rundown:

8am--Church in the 4-H Arena

Noon-10pm--Cdubs Inflatables

Noon--4-H Beef Show

1pm--Jeffers Memorial Stakes Harness Racing

Brian Lang on the Free Stage

3pm--Community Showcase in the Schuetzenfest Building

4:30pm--Parade

6pm--Master Showmanship in the 4-H Arena

6:30pm--Talent Show

8pm--Junior Miss Pageant and Little Mister

A reminder that Emma Beckman will report on 4-H activities each day at 8:45am on KJ Country 102.3 during Fair Week!

Also, we will broadcast harness racing action each day, starting Sunday on 979XFM and Monday through Friday on KJ Country 102.3. Post time is 1pm Sunday through Thursday, and 12 noon on Friday.
